Privacy Policy | Renovation Bridge

Renovation Bridge helps Bay Area homeowners find the right contractor for their renovation, and we are free for homeowners. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It covers renovationbridge.com, our homeowner and contractor portals, our mobile app, and our calls, texts and emails.

2. What we collect

Information you give us

Homeowners: name, phone, email, project address, project type, budget, timing, photos, notes, messages, and your appointment times.
Contractors and partners: business name, contact details, license and insurance information, team members, and billing details.
Payments: processed by Stripe. We never see or store full card or bank account numbers.

Information collected automatically

Device and browser information, IP address, the pages you visit, and how you reached our site (for example, which ad you clicked).
Cookies and similar tools from us and from our advertising and analytics partners. See section 7.

Information from others

Updates from your contractor about your project, such as proposals or appointment outcomes.
Ad platforms and lead forms (for example, Facebook or Google) when you contact us through them.

3. How we use it

To match you with contractors and to book and manage your appointments.
To contact you by phone, text and email about your project.
To send updates and our newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time.
To run our portals, take payments, and provide support.
To improve our service and measure our advertising.
To prevent fraud and spam, and to meet legal obligations.

We use AI tools to help organize information you or your contractor upload, such as putting a contractor's proposal into a standard format. These providers process the data only to perform that task for us and do not use it to train their models.

4. Who we share it with

Matched contractors. When we match you, we share your name, contact details, address and project details with the contractor or contractors so they can meet with you. Contractors must use this information only for your project, and they agree not to sell it or use it for marketing.
Service providers who run parts of our business for us: hosting and database (Vercel, Supabase), CRM and messaging, payments (Stripe), email, analytics (PostHog, Vercel), maps (Google), spam protection (Cloudflare), and AI tools. They may use the data only to provide their services to us.
Advertising partners such as Meta and Google, through cookies and pixels on our website, to measure and improve our ads.
Partner services, as described in section 5.
Legal reasons: when the law requires it, to protect our rights or someone's safety, or as part of a merger or sale of our business.

5. Selling or sharing with partner services

If we can't help with your project, we may pass your contact and project details to one of our listed partners, such as another home-improvement marketplace or contractor network, so they can offer to help. We may be paid for this. Our use of ad tools such as the Meta Pixel and Google Ads may also count as “sharing.” Under California law, both can be a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information.

You can opt out at any time on our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page, or by emailing onn@renovationbridge.com with the subject “Do Not Sell or Share.” We also honor Global Privacy Control signals from your browser. We do not sell or share information about anyone we know is under 16.

6. Texts and calls

If you give us your phone number, you agree that Renovation Bridge, your matched contractors and, if we can't help, our listed partners may call and text you about your request, including by automated means. Message and data rates may apply, and message frequency varies. Reply STOP to stop texts or HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of using our service.

If we can't help with your project, a partner service we pass your request to may contact you about it. You can opt out of this at any time (see section 5).

7. Cookies and tracking

We use cookies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, understand how our site is used (PostHog, Vercel Analytics), and measure our ads (Meta Pixel, Google Ads). You can block cookies in your browser settings, but some features, such as signing in, may stop working. Opting out on our Do Not Sell or Share page, or using Global Privacy Control, turns off the ad tools in that browser.

8. How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as reasonably necessary to help with your project and future renovation needs, to keep business and tax records, to resolve disputes, and to meet legal obligations. When we no longer need it, we delete it or remove the details that identify you. You can ask us to delete it sooner (see section 10).

9. How we protect it

All connections to our site and apps are encrypted (HTTPS).
Data is stored with established cloud providers that encrypt it at rest.
Each contractor can see only their own appointments.
Payments go through Stripe, and we never store card numbers.
Only a small number of staff can access customer data, each with their own login and 2-step verification.

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by law.

10. Your California privacy rights

If you live in California, you have the right to:

Know what personal information we collect, use, share or sell.
Delete your personal information.
Correct inaccurate information.
Opt out of the sale or sharing of your information.
Limit our use of sensitive personal information. We do not use sensitive information for any purpose that requires this.
Not be treated differently for using any of these rights.

To make a request, use our request form or email onn@renovationbridge.com. We will confirm your identity, usually by matching your phone or email, confirm receipt within 10 business days, and respond within 45 days. You can also have an authorized agent make a request for you.

Categories we collected in the past 12 months: identifiers (name, phone, email, IP address); customer records (address, payment records); commercial information (project details, appointments); internet activity; approximate location; and audio or visual information (photos you upload). Sources, purposes and recipients are described in sections 2 to 5. We may sell or share identifiers and commercial information with partner services, and share internet activity with advertising partners.

11. Children

Our service is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. For major changes, we will also notify you by email or with a notice on our site.
